Style Reviews: Wantable Style Edit Review – July 2015

To say I love clothes is a bit of an understatement. In fact, shopping for new pieces to add to my collection is probably one of the things—if not the thing—I love to do most. But squeezing in the time to search for my new favorite jeans or a must-own dress is becoming increasingly harder, which is exactly why the Wantable Style Edit is so awesome.

After paying a $20 non-refundable styling fee and filling out a simple quiz about everything from my budget and sizing to color preferences and where I want to wear my clothes, a personal stylist customized an Edit of 5 hand-picked pieces she thought I’d love (she was right!), then shipped them to my house days later. After trying them on and deciding which ones I wanted to keep, I simply shipped back the pieces—or piece, in my case—I didn’t love within five days and then paid for what I kept.

Here’s what was in my Edit this month:

BB Dakota Parrish Top (valued at $68)

Even though we’re in the swing of summer, I’m already thinking about new pieces I want to add to my wardrobe come fall—and this is definitely one of them. I love the subtle print; it’s a fun twist on classic black and white in a pattern that’s still chic and sophisticated. The fabric is slinky and lightweight, which will make it a great transition piece into the cooler months, and I love the drapey fit and flattering V-neck. The only problem? It’s a little longer than I would like, particularly in the sleeves. But all it takes is a roll of the sleeve, a pair of slimming black jeans, and some cute booties to make this one of my go-to outfits for fall.

KUT Mia Toothpick Skinny Jean (valued at $79)

Being smaller in the waist than the hips, I typically have a lot of trouble finding jeans that fit perfectly. But that wasn’t a problem with these skinny jeans. They fit like a glove, hit at the perfect spot on the ankle, and are so super-soft and stretchy that I can already tell they’ll be in my wardrobe rotation more often than not once the weather cools down. Plus, the dark rinse is really slimming, and I love that it fits a little higher in the waist, giving me the illusion of longer legs.

French Connection Classic Polly Plains Sleeveless Top (valued at $48)

This top may be basic at first glance, but it’s anything but. Woven in the front and softly knit in the back, it has a slightly sexy scoop neck that makes it easy to dress down for work or up for a night out—which is exactly what I told my stylist I was looking for. I’ll be pairing it with jeans and heels for a casual date night, and with a skirt or blazer for my 9-to-5.

Finders Keepers Renaissance Skirt (valued at $150)

I could not adore this skirt more. Not only is it my favorite color combo, but its striped pattern, cute pockets, and front-pleat detailing really take it to the next level. It’s perfect for the casual workplace, and pretty much made for a summer weekend. I’ll wear it with my French Connection tank now and a chunky sweater come fall.

BB Dakota Piper Dress (valued at $101)

I’m a dress fanatic and a recent maxi convert, so I was really excited when I saw this summery style in my Wantable box. Sadly, I sized up in dresses during my style quiz—I usually find them a little snug in the hips—and now it has a bit too much fabric for me. That’s probably why it’s a touch too long and bunches at the back band. And even though I love its casual-glam vibe, beachy print, sheer skirt, and sexy side slit, I’ll have to return this gorgeous dress. If it fit better, though, I’d definitely be wearing it every chance I got this summer, particular for Sunday brunch or a Saturday night out.

Overall, July’s Style Edit was a major hit, and is valued at $446. Take out the styling fee and a keep-all-items discount of 25%, and this collection comes to just $314.50. And for all the goodies I got, it’s worth every last penny.
