Fashion: The Denim Guide

There’s no denying that autumn is in air when you have the urge to cast aside your cut-offs for your favorite jeans. We know how essential denim is to any wardrobe, we can’t wait to share our curated denim collection this season. Dark or distressed? Skinny or straight? We’ll help you find the silhouettes, fabrics, and washes that fit your style.

The Wash
For a dressy look choose a crisp pair in the deepest of indigos. Casual days call for pre-distressed denim. With holes at the knees and frayed hems, they look just as loved as any pair from the thrift store. Want to kick a case of the blues? Add variety with grey or black denim.

The Rise
Want your hips and tush to look their best? Pay close attention to the rise. High-rise jeans have been making a come back and there’s good reason why. Because they extend a little past your true waist, count on them for a slimming effect. Mid-rise jeans skim your belly button and do wonders for eradicating a muffin top. Low rise jeans are the comfiest of the bunch, but may accentuate your love handles. On bloated days when they’re all you can slither into, pair them with a floaty top.

The Cut
Whether you’re curvy, athletic, or toothpick straight, there’s something for every body type.
The flare: Bolder than the bootcut, modern day bell bottoms have a generous opening at the ankle. Most fit slim through the thigh to give an elongated look. These are great for balancing out a generous booty.
The boyfriend: Wiggling into the jeans your sweetie has been wearing since college sounds good in theory. However, the slouchy fit won’t do much for your figure. The latest boyfriend jeans borrow the best features from his favorite pair such as a comfy waistband and roomy legs, but fit closer to show off your curves.
The skinny: The tapered look is here to stay. Balance out your silhouette by wearing them with a long, slim sweater.
The straight: Consider these a cousin to the skinny jean. Because they’re roomier at the thigh and ankle, they’re slightly more forgiving. Petite ladies love the way this fit gives the illusion of model-long legs.
