Vice President – Merchandising

 

Job Description

The VP-Merchandising reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for driving merchandise strategies, executing product flow to maximize business profitability, and meeting the assortment needs of the company. The VP-Merchandising will influence product purchasing and development strategies, create market penetration strategies for the overall company, initiate pricing strategies cross-departmentally, and will hire, train, develop and mentor a growing team of buyers, designers, and merchants. You will be tasked with building a world-class team.

General Responsibilities

  • Oversee the buying and merchandising team to ensure operational efficiency and that product assortment, financial, and creative goals for all product categories are met.
  • Coach/mentor all buyers and merchandisers by providing feedback and guidance on best-practices and prioritize the team’s tasks to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Implement new buying initiatives to improve effectiveness of the differentiated customer assortment.
  • Conduct a weekly business review and product recap to chase opportunities and inform future season strategy and product development. Partner with merchandising, planning, and allocation team to execute.
  • Serve as the representative of the merchant team within the company as needed.

Merchandise/Supply Chain Management

  • Lead, train, and mentor the buying and merchandising team to source, develop, and produce products our customers crave.
  • Set margin goals, product turn rates, and markdown strategies to maximize return on inventory.
  • Identify, analyze, and report merchandise KPIs using internal and 3rd party tools. Absolute mastery of inventory management is a necessity.

Business and Strategy

  • Develop and gain approval for seasonal strategies. Prioritize tasks to support global and local product strategies and meet financial targets. Approve shared and specific market category opportunities to maximize growth areas and manage risk for the business.
  • Work with buying and merchandising team to establish assortment mix to achieve annual/seasonal financial plans globally and identify growth opportunities.
  • Assess the strengths of our competitors to improve our assortment. Evaluate pricing strategies to remain competitively dominant in existing and emerging markets.
  • Liaise with finance and executive teams to develop short and long-range price structure evaluation process to maximize profitability.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 10+ years of overall buying/merchandising experience in apparel with extensive experience in a management role.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience as a multi-category manager, overseeing both the creative and financial aspects of merchandising.
  • Experience as a merchandising manager in multiple product lines, with an emphasis on apparel.
  • Must have extensive experience in product development and trend forecasting; a deep knowledge of product design, fabrics, and colors is required.
  • Must be able to adapt to constant change and multi-task in a highly entrepreneurial startup environment.
  • Must be results-oriented and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills are imperative.

Wantable is seeking a data analyst to help us more effectively analyze and use our large datasets. We need an individual that can do a deep dive and fully understand our data but also be able to understand the business needs and explain the data to our technical and non technical teams.

The job duties will include:

  • Understand Wantable’s database structure and interpret the data in meaningful manner.
  • Design and build reports.
  • Assist in maintaining database structure and efficiency.
  • Maintain third party reporting system; RJ Metrics.

The Paid Acquisition Manager is a numbers driven, ROI focused specialist with 3+ years of paid acquisition through multiple digital channels and has a strong track record of delivering exceptional results tied to KPIs without the need for heavy (or any) couponing/discounts.

This position requires a person who enjoys digging in the numbers and utilizing Excel to find answers to complex questions. This role is data-heavy and requires a self-starter who thrives in a fast paced environment.

The job duties will include:

  • Responsible for multiple digital marketing channels such as social, display, PPC, mobile, and more.
  • Help scale and manage a multimillion-dollar marketing budget.
  • Discover new channels of potential opportunity to test and measure using other successful channels as a benchmark.
  • Work directly with ad platforms such as Facebook, Taboola, Outbrain, Google, Bing and others.

Women’s Extended/Plus Size Apparel Buyer

 

Job Description

The Women’s Extended/Plus Size Apparel Buyer reports to the Vice President of Merchandising and is responsible for sourcing, buying, and negotiating prices for the entire apparel category; Develop seasonal strategies that will deliver the Wantable customer the most trend-forward mix possible, with the highest quality and perceived value; Deliver planned sales/gm through expanding vendor base, developing healthy vendor relationships, finding the right items at the correct costs and delivering a compelling MSRP.

The job duties will include:

  • Negotiate all costs, payment and shipping terms with vendors.
  • Ensure that product attributes are correctly covered from an inventory perspective on a seasonal basis to ensure customer satisfaction with their apparel assortment.
  • Work closely with Merchandising Operations and VP of Merchandising on seasonal/monthly/weekly sales forecasts to ensure inventory availability.
  • Monitor product return rate and address as appropriate to maintain the targeted rate.
  • Review aged inventory and develop an exit plan.
  • Attend trade shows, market weeks, and vendor showrooms to ensure that Wantable’s mix is at the forefront of market trends.
  • Address any quality or shipping issues with apparel vendors.
  • Quickly resolve any product related customer issues with the customer service team.
  • Fully and accurately complete all new vendor set up and item set up forms.
  • Procure vendor samples and product images as outlined by the corporate timing and action calendar.

Job Description

The Digital Marketing Analyst position is a key supportive role to the entire Wantable organization. A successful candidate will be expected to wear multiple hats and “hustle” to find data points that support some of the biggest marketing decisions Wantable makes. The position reports to the Director of Marketing

The job duties will include:

  • Monitor and maintain all KPIs across the entire site and its various traffic channels through scheduled and ad hoc reports.
  • Analyze web data with frequency to identify opportunities to improve overall site performance based on actionable data.
  • Interact with direct response native and non-native advertising channels such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Pinterest in ongoing campaign refinement and testing.
