Dress for Success: Business Casual Workwear for the Summer
Post by Jenn Wang | June 27, 2019
Summer is the season to loosen up! It’s time to shed the restricting, skin-hugging, heavy sweaters and jackets that kept you warm all winter. But for women who have the daily 9-5 obligation in the office, wearing some of the latest summer fashion trends may not always be suitable for the office. Not to worry–you can definitely find ways to be a trendy fashionista in workwear while still maintaining your professionalism. To give you some inspiration, I’ve put together three summer-ready business casual outfits for the working woman.
Classic With a Pop
Let me first preface that everyone needs a simple black blazer. They go with EVERYTHING. Layering a black blazer over any blouse is an easy way to put together a business casual outfit with minimal effort and thinking. (You know those days where you accidentally set your alarm for 6PM instead of 6AM, wake up at 8AM in a panic and have to run out the door?) In the summer, I like to add bright pops of colors to workwear ensembles. This magenta blouse and patterned trousers are perfect additions to a simple black blazer.
Monochrome Paired With Print
Whenever business professional workwear is required, a full monochrome ensemble is the best way to go. There’s something about the head-to-toe coordination that makes it feel strong and powerful (just like you!). Wear your suit with a bright floral blouse underneath to bring some personality to the outfit. Incorporating fun summer vibes to a business professional outfit is a great way to personalize an otherwise traditional look.
Light and Airy
Gone are the days where bare shoulders are unacceptable in the workplace (despite how tricky the office AC might try to make it). With a conservative neckline, this blouse is still office friendly. Bring a ray of sunshine to the drab cubicles of the office with a bright yellow blouse and cream trousers. Just try not to spill coffee on your light colored clothes! 🙂
