7 Easy Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

It happens every year for a lot of us. Before I know it, Halloween is around the corner and panic ensues because you have NO idea what you’re going to wear as a costume. Sure, you could run to the local party store and buy a ridiculously expensive and tacky store-bought costume, but what’s the fun in that? DIY costumes don’t have to be stressful. It’s budget-friendly because you’re not spending money on a costume you’ll wear once a year and it gives you a chance to get creative and have fun with the pieces you may already own. Check out these three easy last-minute Halloween costumes you probably already have in your closet.

1. A Witch

It’s just a bunch of hocus pocus! A witch is a perfect costume to let your creativity shine. All you need is a witch’s hat. You could pair it with a matching dress and don’t forget the accessories! Mystical fun accessories really get the witchy look across. Go bold with makeup and hair and top the look with a funky-colored and/or textured jacket that is a statement piece.

2. Where’s Waldo

Get spotted by the easily recognizable character, Waldo from Where’s Waldo. This is an incredibly easy ensemble to put together. Just grab any red and white striped top—a t-shirt, sweater, or blouse could work—and wear it with jeans and sneakers. Toss in a red crossbody to be extra chic (and also practical—Waldo needs a place to put his stuff). Extra credit if you have black-rimmed glasses and a red beanie to top it all off!

3. Barbie

What a perfect girly costume that no matter how you style it people will always recognize that signature Barbie pink! Make the best of your barbie look by incorporating a fun pink dress or bright pink to with matching heels. Include some statement accessories including fun jewelry and a cute purse. You could go with a specific themed route and dress like exercise Barbie!

4. A Groovy ’60s-Inspired Costume

Groovy baby! Luckily tie-dye has been one of the biggest trends of 2019 and you can find tie-dye pieces practically anywhere, even if you don’t already own a tie-dye shirt. Wear your tie-dye with flared denim and heeled booties for a simple 60’s inspired Halloween costume. Throw on colored sunglasses and layered necklaces to really complete the look.

5. A Cat

You’re guaranteed to find something in your closet for this simple costume! All you need to buy is some cat ears. Add some fun detail with makeup to really solidify the look. Grab an all-black outfit from your closet and its just that easy!

6. Sandy from Grease

I got chills, they’re multiplying…because you’re going to look extra sleek in a Sandy costume on Halloween! Find a black cropped jacket – a moto, suede, or leather jacket will all work, a black tank, and black skinny jeans or leggings. Eazy peasy. Go, greased lightnin’!

7. Rosie the Riveter

Looking to make a strong feminine statement with your costume? This one is a perfect choice! Bring your Rosie costume to life by grabbing an all-denim jumpsuit or a pair of jeans and a denim shirt. The most important part? the iconic red polka dot bandana. Add a red lip for a cohesive look, throw on some work boots and you are ready to go!
