Post by Wantable Staff | September 15, 2021
In response to the Afghan refugee crisis, Wantable partnered with two local organizations to donate women’s clothing to support the 12,000+ refugees at Fort McCoy in Madison, Wisconsin.
In total, 8 pallets full of clothes were sent to Fort McCoy to help empower and provide basic needs the Afghan refugee women and girls as they resettle here in the United States.
Wantable team members recognized the need and quickly sprung into action, gathering after hours to sort through clothes and package them for delivery to the refugees at Fort McCoy.
Community outreach is at the core of Wantable’s values. Our Making A Genuine Impact Crew (MAGIC) gives Wantable team members an opportunity to get involved in giving back to our community. Every year we make a social impact by supporting a diverse range of worthy causes.
Through partnerships with Hanan Relief Group and Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition, we were able to ensure that Afghan women and girls received the type of clothing they needed most to help with their transition and resettlement here in the United States.
Hanan Refugee Relief Group’s mission is to help resettle refugees and transition them into contributing members of their new communities. They have chapters in North Carolina, Virginia and right here in Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition is a local outreach organization dedicated to promoting an accurate understanding Islam and Muslim women. They envision a world in which women and girls are nurtured and empowered to reach their fullest potential, and social justice, respect, compassion and understanding are the only acceptable standards for human beings.
